Gold open faced cylinder watch

A Louis XV precision pocket watch made by Charles Oudin, a student of Breguet, in Paris, France, circa 1870. This watch features a Louis XV case with large lateral hinge crafted from 18 carat gold, the applied, good quality, monogram AP and a numbered cuvette marked Horloger de la Marine, Palais Royal 52, Paris. The white enamel dial has black Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track with red Arabic five minute numerals and gold hands. The very fine movement features a cylinder escapement, wolf’s teeth and early crown winding.
Dial and cuvette are signed.
