Pendant watch ‘Etruscan Revival’

An extremely rare gold and enamel chatelaine watch ‘Etruscan Revival’, made for Mellerio dits Meller in Paris, France,  circa 1870. The chatelaine and the numbered, coin banded lépine case of excellent quality were crafted from 18 carat gold and are enamelled in the same style, set with diamonds and decorated with violet stones. The screwed white enamel dial features an outer track with minute division, Roman hour numerals and fine Breguet hands. The bar movement is fitted with a cylinder escapement.
The cuvette is signed.

The item presented here features a matching chatelaine in exceptionally magnificent condition, adorned with four Oriental pearls and an unusually rare diamond setting. The design belongs to the Archaeological Revival style of circa 1870.
