A French verge oignon pocket watch with brass dial in a gilt open face case, circa 1695. Very beautiful deep full plate fire gilt fusee movement, slender Egyptian pillars. Gilt pierced and engraved bridge cock, three-arm steel balance with spiral blue steel hairspring. Small silver regulator index operating a visible blue steel rack. Smooth brass dial with black Roman numerals. Wound through the centre of the single steel hand. Back and side decoratively chased and engraved. Gilt-brass inside the case on the outside the gilt is gone.
