An unusual French shagreen and gilt metal oignon watch with mock pendulum and enamel portrait by Martinot à Paris, circa 1695. Gilt full plate movement, verge escapement, fusee and chain, Egyptian pillars, pierced bridge revealing four-fold mock pendulum framing applied enamel portrait of elegant lady, key wound by center arbor. Gilt chased dial with scrolls, applied Roman chapters on white cartouches, enamel quarter hour ring and a single blued hour hand. Gilt case, with doubly glazed hinged lids covered with shagreen, loose ring pendant.
