An English 18 carat gold open faced pocket chronometer with spring detent escapement, Hallmarked London 1821. Very fine chronometer movement in manner of Thomas Earnshaw, diamond endstone, special hairspring and spring, bimetallic Z-balance with trapezoidal weights and platinum screws, engraved cock. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and solid gold hands. Case with engraved eagle head to the back, reeded mid section, case maker’s mark IR. Dial and movement signed.
