An exquisite and heavy English 18 carat gold pair cased cabriolet pocket chronometer made for the Ottoman market, circa 1850. Three-quarter plated movement, screwed gold chatons, pivoted detent escapement, key winding. Cuvette inscribed chronometer. Multi-coloured gold dial with Ottoman numerals and floral decoration, subsidiary seconds, Ottoman inscription and the finest steel hands. Engine-turned cabriolet case, the inner case is rotatably mounted in the outer case and therefore the watch can be worn as a full hunter watch or Lépine. Movement signed and numbered. Comes with the original gold Breguet ratchet key.
