A very fine Swiss 18 carat rose gold hunting cased 19 lignes ankerchronometer, circa 1880. Glazed movement, chronometer balance, special fine adjusting device, three-quarter plate, Geneva striping decoration, screwed gold chatons. Cuvette with later dedication: To Clarck G. Mitchell from his father John C. Mitchell 1914. Three-part white enamel dial with Arabic hours, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds, and blued steel hands. In working order. It comes with an Extract from the Archives confirming the watch’s originality and that it belonged to a small series of six identical chronometers with the numbers 21784 – 21789, manufactured in 1880 and sold to the Audemars Depot in New York in 1884. Plain case with fine pearl rim on both sides. Case numbered an inscribed John C. Mitchell 1884 – 1914, dial signed, movement signed and numbered, case and movement with matching numbers.
