A very fine and historically interesting Swiss 18 carat rose gold open faced quarter repeating musical cylinder pocket watch, circa 1820. Cylinder movement, repeating the quarter hours, Lépine calibre, hourly music with muting. Gold engine-turned dial with Roman hours, steel Breguet hands, probably replaced. Case engine-turned. A commemorative dedication on the lid indicates that the watch was formerly owned by the famous Lieutenant General Henry George Teesdale and was given away as a memento after his death in 1871. Case numbered.
