Unusual  verge pocket watch with mock pendulum balance
–
A very unusual early English verge, full plate fire gilt movement in a plain silver case, circa 1720. Square baluster pillars, fusee and chain.  Unusual champleve silver dial with steel beetle and poker hands, the balance in the form of a mock pendulum between top plate and dial, silver champlevé dial, Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute track  The aperture for the mock pendulum with the retrograde locking mechanism on the right and a retrograde regulation scale on the left all work together to create the aesthetic appeal of this fine dial. Winding through the back. Plain silver case with a circular shutter to the winding aperture.
