An attractive Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1780. Verge movement. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic five minutes, gold poker & beetle hands, flat chipping around the opening. The high-quality case is worked in yellow, rose and green gold, oriental half pearls on the front, the back pearl-set, contains an oval enamel medallion, with small imperfections, surrounded by a rare paillonné enamel in peacock’s eye design. Dial and movement signed, movement and case with matching numbers.
