A Swiss 18 carat gold centre seconds virgule ring watch made for the Chinese market with diamond-set balance, circa 1810. Very flat virgule movement, octagonal white enamel dial with a view to the balance wheel which is completely set with rose-cut diamonds, blued steel hands, extremely rare centre seconds. Octagonal form case, originally set with half oriental pearls, on the bottom a slide, underneath the mechanism for winding and time setting.

Ring watches of this quality are museum collector’s items. Very few of them were equipped with centre seconds and intended for the Chinese market. The quality and construction of this ring watch indicate that Piguet & Capt, Genève could have made it. The watch comes from an important English private collection.
