An important French Renaissance coach clock with striking mechanism, self striking and alarm, circa 1670. Very early full plate movement, florally designed balance cock, very early regulation, three windings for the movement, self-striking and alarm, vase pillars, pierced barrel, two-armed balance, no hairspring. Dial with large silver alarm disc and the finest engraved floral motifs, probably original and very decorative hands. Silver mounted leather outer case, the inner case pierced and engraved with a very detailed representation of flowers, tendrils and a portrait, bell. Movement signed.

A Claude Bourgaud was listed in Annonay from 1547 to 1621. But research could not determine whether Daniel was a son or a brother.
