One of 42 examples of an important U.S. Army Air Force marine chronometer with 24h display, made by the Hamilton Watch Co. in Lancaster Pennsylvania, United States of America, circa 1944. The case of this chronometer is mounted in a three part mahogany case with a gimbal suspension. The numbered black 24h dial has Arabic hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock and white hands. The numbered movement has a spring detent chronometer escapement and 14 jewels.
Box and dial have matching numbers and box, dial and movement are all signed.

This American 24 hour chronometer model 121 belongs to a small series of only 42 pieces, which were produced from 1940 onwards, starting with the numbers 3E001 to 3E042 and is therefore one of the rarest military marine chronometers from the Second World War.
