A fine, very small and rare French 18 carat gold open faced dumb quarter repeating verge pocket watch, circa 1780. Frosted gilt full plate movement, ring turned tapered pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, four armed brass balance, flat balance spring, foliate pierced and chased continental type balance cock, silver regulation disc, repeating with two hammers on the case activated by depressing the pendant. White enamel dial with Breguet numerals, outer minute track and original blued steel Breguet hands. Engine turned Louis XVI case, deep back. Movement signed, case with Paris hallmarks.
