A fine Swiss 20 carat gold and enamel open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1780. Gilt-brass full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain three-armed brass balance, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel endpiece, silver regulation dial. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic five-minute numerals, original pierced gold hands. Louis XVI case, the bezel chased and decorated with champlevé enamelled leaves and white berries, the back with a finely painted on enamel profile portrait of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, an outer gold bead border and an outermost border decorated to match the bezel. Dial and movement signed.
