A fine French 18 carat gold and enamel open faced verge pendant watch, circa 1780. Frosted gilt full plate movement, Ø 27 mm, cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, a pierced and engraved continental type balance clock, silvered regulation dial. White enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track, Arabic five-minute numerals and blued steel Breguet hands. The Louis XVI case with a hinged and sprung bezel decorated with enamel half-pearls, the back overlaid with royal blue guilloché enamel, an enamel half-pearl border. Movement signed and numbered.
