A very fine, rare and heavy Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased quarter repeating keyless lever pocket watch made by Vacheron Constantin SA in Geneva, circa 1900. Retailed by F.L. Löbner, Berlin. Frosted gilt movement, Ø 43 mm, 29 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, a straight-line lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with temperature and meantime adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. A hinged gold cuvette engraved 1880, 9, Februar 1905, Karl Abenhausen. A matte gilt dial with black champlevé Arabic hours, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock, the centre engine-turned and blued steel Breguet hands. Both covers of the case are engine-turned with a sunray pattern, a small oval cartouche with the engraved initials KA on the front, polished borders, a coin-edge band. Case, cuvette and movement signed by the watchmaker, dial signed by the retailer, case and movement numbered.
