A very fine, rare and large French 18 carat rose gold Montre de Souscription pocket watch, circa 1803. Sold to Monsieur Leleu, Germinal, An 10 (March- April, 1803), paid 600 Francs on 10 Frimaire, An 11 (December 1st, 1803). Movement with souscription calibre with central barrel wound from the front or back, overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance with amplitude limiting pin on the upper rim, pare-chute on the top pivot, blued steel flat balance spring, bimetallic temperature compensation curb on the index regulator. White enamel dial by Borel, secured by a screw, Breguet numerals, outer divisions for the five-minutes, quarter and half-hours, secret signature below 12, original blued steel souscription hand. Case by Joly, engine-turned grains d’orge with polished rim and bezel, coin-edge band, loose ring pendant. Movement signed, dial signed and numbered, case numbered and with Joly punch mark.
