A fine, rare and large Swiss 18 carat gold open faced quarter repeating musical cylinder pocket watch playing music on the hour or at will, circa 1820. Gilt movement, fixed going barrels for the going and musical trains, cylinder escapement, brass three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring, polished steel endplate, index regulator, sur plateau musical movement with 29 tuned blued steel teeth playing on both sides of the pinned disc, music/silence lever protruding from the cuvette. Hinged gilt-brass cuvette. Gold dial with black Arabic numerals on circular white enamel reserves intersected by engraved stylized leaves, white enamel outer minute track and original blued steel Breguet hands. Engine-turned case with polished bezel and border, reeded band, bolt at 1 for locking the repeat, bolt at 6 for activating the music. Front plate punched AM and numbered.
