A fine Russian 56 hour marine chronometer with power reserve indication and ratchet key, circa 1964. Gilt brass full plate movement with baluster pillars secured by screws, 20 jewels, fusee with chain and Harrison’s maintaining power, Earnshaw’s spring detent escapement, freesprung two armed bimetallic compensation balance with cylindrical weights and two meantime adjusting nuts, polished steel helical balance spring, diamond endstone. Silvered dial with upright Arabic numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary dials for the seconds, power reserve indication and original gold spade hands. Three tier mahogany box with brass handles, the glazed middle section with hinged lid. Brass bowl and gimbaled suspension. Dial, case and movement signed. Accompanied by the original carrying case.
