Gold and enamel mandolin-shaped watch

A fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel mandolin-form watch with concealed dial and visible balance, circa 1810. Hinged, gilt-brass full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, Ø 20 mm, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain three-arm brass balance, continental clock, silver regulator plate. White enamel dial with Arabic hours, an outer minute track, Arabic quarter-hour numerals and gold spear hands. A mandolin-form case, the sound-board is chased and engraved with a seated cherub, flowers and foliage, a glazed sound hole displaying the balance clock and balance, black enamel decoration, the vaulted back with alternating sections of champlevé enamel in blue and yellow, red and black, wire strings, a gold suspension chain. Dial signed. Accompanied by a gold ratchet key.
