A fine English 7-day going marine chronometer with power reserve indication in rosewood deck box, circa 1835. Brass half-plate movement, relieved for the escapement, with cylindrical pillars secured by screws, reverse fusee with maintaining power, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement mounted within two plates, jewelled locking stone, two armed bimetallic compensation balance with two cylindrical weights and timing screws, diamond endstone, free-sprung blued steel helical balance spring. Silvered dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track, large subsidiary seconds and power reserve indication, later brass spade hands. Three-tier box with flush brass handles, glazed middle section with vacant ivory plaque and hinged lid, gimballed brass bowl.
