A fine, very rare and oversized Swiss Staybrite stainless steel military chronograph lever pocket watch with instantaneous 30-minute register, circa 1940. Rhodium-plated movement, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, Breguet balance spring, index regulator, chronograph with visible work. Three-tone pink dial with painted Roman quarter-hour numerals, outer baton hour indexes and minute track, inner fifths of a second track with Arabic five-second numerals, subsidiary dials for the seconds and 30-minute register, original blued steel baton hands. Polished and brushed case, stepped bezels, circular bow, button at 11 for start/stop of the chronograph and button at 1 for the return-to-zero, the interior of the back engraved MFG-ARMY-CONT, YR. 1942-1943-1951, ARMY-AF-NO. 745, E. GÜBELIN WORK’S. Dial, case and movement signed, case and movement numbered.
