Gold, enamel and pearl-set lever watch by Just & Son

A very fine and rare English 18 carat gold, enamel and pearl-set centre seconds lever pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1840. Frosted gilt movement, Chinese calibre, entirely engraved, standing barrel, 8 jewels, lateral lever escapement, three-arm balance, flat balance spring, index regulator. Hinged and sprung gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minutes and seconds track with Arabic quarter-hour numerals, original gold ovoid hands. The bezel, pendant and bow set with split pearls, hinged and sprung case back decorated with a finely painted on enamel bouquet of poppies, nasturtiums and roses on a dark blue guilloché enamel ground, white, pale green and red enamel border with chased gold scrolls, outer split-pearl border. Movement signed.
