A very fine, extremely rare Swiss 18 carat gold open faced double-sided astronomical astrolabe keyless lever pocket watch with mean and sidereal time, moon phases and separate back with a gold alidade, circa 1983. Made especially for Monsieur Wickl. Retailed by Gübelin. Rhodium-plated movement by IWC, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions, self compensating Breguet balance spring, micrometric regulator. Silver ring with champlevé Roman numerals, I-XII in each half, annular revolving gold ring in the centre engraved with annual calendar and rotating with sidereal speed showing sidereal time, gold Zodiac ring, center engraved with different latitudes, gold extra back engraved with months, signs of the zodiac and 4 sectors calibrated 0-90 degrees, rotating gold alidade with folding sights and original blued steel hands, the hour hand-fitted with a gold sun at the end, the minute with a gold disc in the center symbolizing the Earth. Brushed and polished case. Dial and case signed Gübelin, movement ring and case signed by Richard Daners, the movement signed by IWC, case and movement numbered.
