A fine and rare English gilt brass and enamel open faced 12 and 24 hour verge pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1790. The hinged gilt brass movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, a verge escapement, plain steel three arm balance, flat balance spring and gilt brass English cock. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer Chinese hour ring, later gilt brass poire hands and a further hand revolving once in 24 hours. A double backed consular case with a fixed cuvette, the back with a polychrome enamel bouquet of flowers on a royal blue ground. Movement signed.
