A fine, unusual and decorative Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel hunting cased keyless lever fob watch, circa 1983. Sold on May 28th, 1984. Rhodium-plated movement, Geneva quality mark, 18 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, Gyromax balance, adjusted to heat and cold isochronism and five positions, self-compensating balance spring. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and original blued steel Louis XV hands. Case decorated to the front and reverse with Semis de Fleurs cloisonné enamel on a sky blue background, with champlevé surround.
Dial, case and movement signed, case numbered. Accompanied by a Patek Philippe box and Extract from the Archives.

Cloisonné is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects with coloured material held in place or separated by metal strips or wire, normally of gold. In recent centuries, vitreous enamel has been used, but inlays of cut gemstones, glass and other materials were also used during older periods, indeed, cloisonné enamel very probably began as an easier imitation of cloisonné work using gems. The resulting objects can also be called cloisonné.
