A very fine and large French 18 carat rose gold open faced quarter repeating verge pocket watch, circa 1800. Matte gilt full plate movement, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved continental balance cock, silver regulation dial, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Matte gilt cuvette hinged to the movement ring. White enamel dial, secured by a screw, with Arabic numerals, outer minute track, winding aperture at 2 and original blued steel Directoire hands. Polished case, repoussé rope-twist band, the hinged back with repoussé radial pattern. Cuvette signed.
