An extremely fine and large English 18 carat gold open faced pocket chronometer, Hallmarked London 1822. Matte gilt 3/4 plate movement with detachable foliate engraved plate for the barrel, cylindrical pillars, third, fourth and escapement pivots with jewels in screwed gold chatons, fusee and chain, Harrison’s maintaining power, Earnshaw type spring footed detent escapement with brass escape wheel, freesprung two armed bimetallic compensation balance with wedge shaped brass weights and mean time adjustment screws, blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves, diamond endstone. Gold hinged cuvette. Engine turned silver dial with applied gold Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions, subsidiary seconds and original blued steel Breguet hands. Case engine turned à grains d’orge, polished bezel and border, reeded band. Dial and movement signed.
