Gold open faced Art Nouveau watch decorated by G. Mantz

A very fine, interesting Swiss 18 carat gold open faced Art Nouveau keyless lever pendant watch with case decoration by G. Mantz, circa 1910. Made for J. J. Freeman & Co, Toledo, Ohio, US. Nickel-silver movement, 18 jewels, straight-line lever escapement à moustache, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator with graduations engraved on centre bridge, wolf’s tooth winding wheels. Gold hinged cuvette with peripheral inscription and dedication dated 1910. White enamel dial with painted Arabic numerals, outer minute track with five-minute gold markers and gold Louis XVI hands. Solid case, box-hinged, chased, bezel with foliate pattern and the case back depicting Venus, Roman goddess of love and beauty, surrounded by cherubs and birds. Dial, case and movement signed, case numbered.
