A very fine, interesting Swiss 18-carat gold open-faced keyless lever Art Nouveau pendant watch with case decoration by G. Mantz, circa 1910. Retailed by J.J. Freeman & Co, Toledo, Ohio. Nickel-silver movement, 18 jewels, straight-line lever moustache escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator with graduations engraved on the center bridge, wolf’s tooth winding wheels. Gold hinged cuvette with peripheral inscription and dedication dated 1910. White enamel dial with painted Arabic numerals, outer minute track with five-minute gold markers, and original gold Louis XVI hands. Solid, box hinged and chased case, bezel with foliate pattern and the back depicting Venus, Roman goddess of love and beauty, surrounded by cherubs and birds. Dial, case, and movement signed, case numbered.
