A fine, rare and thin Swiss 18 carat gold open faced minute repeating keyless lever dress watch with Extra adjustment, circa 1910. Retailed by Smith Patterson Company, Boston. Extra, rhodium-plated movement, Geneva Striping decoration, 31 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, a counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with eight adjustments, blued steel Breguet balance spring and swan-neck micrometre regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Matte off-white dial with painted black Arabic hours, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and original gilt Louis XV hands. Polished case, concealed hinge, the back with an applied square plaque. Case and movement signed by watchmaker, dial and movement signed by retailer.
