Gold chronograph tachymeter by Charles Grottendieck

A Belgian 14 carat gold hunting cased chronograph lever pocket watch with tachymeter, circa 1910. A Longines chronograph movement. White enamel dial with black Arabic hours, an outer minute and fifth of a second track with red Arabic 24 hour numerals, an outermost black and blue tachymeter scale for 1000 meters, subsidiary seconds at 9 o’clock, a 30 minute register at 3 and gold hands. A plain case of which the bezel is replaced. Dial and case signed, case and movement with a matching number. Comes with the original key.

Charles Grottendieck was a jeweller and watchmaker with a grand reputation in Brussels. In 1890, he was appointed Court Watchmaker to the Royal Family. The movements for his pocket watches were ordered only from the best makers, such as Patek Philippe, LeCoultre, Longines and Vacheron Constantin.
