Triple cased verge quarter repeater by George Prior

A fine English 18 carat gold and enamel open faced quarter repeating triple cased verge watch, circa 1812. Gilt finished verge movement, finely pierced and engraved balance cock and foot, chain fuseé, diamond endstone, quarter repeating onto a bell activated through a push piece in the pendant. Later white enamel dial with Breguet numerals. Inner case with yellow translucent enamel over engine turning, polychrome enamel floral motif to the back, outer red and white enamel row border, pierced and engraved case, red enamel foliate and blue enamel scroll decoration to the band, the rim with blue enamel and gilt decorative geometric motifs, outer case with a polychrome enamel harbor scene to the reverse, red and white row border with both rims with blue enamel background, red, white and gilt foliate design, the third case with polychrome enamel foliate, scroll and geometric design to the rim and case interior rim, scroll and foliage decoration to the border. Movement signed, case with date mark for 1812 and case makers mark ‘IM’.
