A French 18 carat rose gold and enamel automaton quarter repeating verge watch, circa 1780. Gilt finished verge movement, pierced and engraved balance bridge, gilt hinged dust cover. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, flanked by tri-colour gold figures in classical scenes on a translucent blue enamel ground over engine turning, the figures striking the repeat on the central bell. Plain case with band engraved with floral swags.
