An extremely fine, rare and attractive Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel open faced center seconds duplex watch with Mandarin duck enamel miniature made for the Chinese market, circa 1835. Bovet’s mirror polished and blued steel keywound Chinese duplex movement. Finely chased and engraved floral and sunburst decorated gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and center seconds. Large case, light blue and translucent champlevé scarlet enamel floral decorated bezel, rim and bow, back decorated with polychrome enamel scene depicting a Mandarin duck. Case stamped with English date letter for 1835, casemaker’s initials TC and numbered 331, cuvette numbered, movement signed.
