Birchwood and bone open faced cylinder watch with chain

A very fine, rare and unusual Russian birchwood and bone open faced cylinder watch with chain, circa 1850. Attributed to Bronnikov & Son. The movement made of wood, pinned wooden bridges and going barrel, without main spring, cylinder escapement with bone staff, plain wood three armed balance, the movement wound through a specially shaped click wheel. Wooden dial, inlaid circular bone cartouches, Arabic numerals, bone hands and sunk subsidiary seconds. Turned birchwood case, hinged back. Comes with travelling box.
