A fine and rare English gilt, enamel and paste set pair cased open faced key-wound verge coach watch with moon phases made for the Chinese market, circa 1790. Keywound verge movement, chain fusée, dust ring. White enamel dial, small hour display with Roman numerals, subsidiary dials for minutes with Arabic numerals, seconds, regulation and moon phases with lunar calendar, central paste set aperture for the balance wheel. Plain inner case, outer case with paste set bezel, engraved swag and floret decorated rims, the reverse with a translucent blue, green and orange enamel radiating scalloped motif to the engine turned ground with central flowerhead. Dial and movement signed, case stamped FM.
