A large and heavy English gold hunting cased keywound detent chronometer watch, circa 1850. Full plate gilt finished detent chronometer movement, chain fusée, oversized bimetallic compensation balance with poising screws, rounded columns. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track with Arabic five minute divisions, subsidiary seconds and gilt spoon hands. Engine turned case, front cover with central plaque and engraved floral motif, the back cover central engraved floral motif, engine turned band, hinged back. Movement signed and numbered, case numbered and stamped S.
