A rare English 18 carat gold and agate keyless pocket watch, circa 1790. Retail by Somerson in London. A Louis XVI case, decorated and pierced bezel set with agate. The back is with a striped agate set within a gold rim. Gold dial with radial Roman numerals, outer scrolled minute track with five minute Arabic markers, winding aperture at four and gold Louis XVI hands. Matte gilt, full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fuse and chain, verge escapement with micrometric adjustment, three arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass cock. Movement signed William Carter, dial signed by the retailer.
