A rare Swiss, 18 carat gold quarter repeating pocket watch with a concealed erotic automaton on the dial, circa 1820. An Empire, polished case with a reeded band, bolt at 11 to lock the repeating and at two to reveal the erotic scene. Hinged gilt cuvette. Engine turned gold dial, radial champlevé Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, aperture below 12 with shutters opening to reveal a couple on a couch, animated by the repeating mechanism and blued steel Breguet hands. Frosted gilt, full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Case numbered.
