The unique, masterfully executed engraving on the inner back lid already suggests that this perfectly preserved, heavy hunting cased watch by Jules Jürgensen was once owned by a personality from the railroad industry. It was a gift from the city of Atchison in Kansas, U.S.A., to B.P. Waggener, Attorney General for the Missouri Pacific Railroad.
–
Waggener, born in 1847, came from an old American family that played a role in the Revolutionary War. After graduating from law school, he became one of the railroad company’s most successful lawyers and the Missouri Pacific Railway’s Advocate General for Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado. Between 1904 and 1916, he held the Senate seat for the Democrats. He was also a member of numerous organizations and associations.
