This hunting cased watch was created by Jules Frédéric Urban Jürgensen (1837-1894), the oldest son of Jules (Frédéric) Jürgensen, who trained in watchmaking together with his youngest brother Jacques Alfred Jürgensen (1842-1912). The brothers continued their father’s business trading under the name Jules Jürgensen, as both of them were exceptionally skilled watchmakers. Jules Frédéric Urban was based in Le Locle, he was politically active and held several public offices. He also owned a sizable farm. On March 17, 1884, he was made a knight of the Legion of Honour.
