A solid Dutch hunting cased quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1852. Frosted gilt bridge movement, keywind with 24 rubies, 2 hammers, 2 gongs and screw compensation balance.
Two 18 carat gold engine turned covers with engraved noble family crest, reeded band, plain gold cuvette engraved with date 4 December 1852 probably the date when the watch was completed, case maker’s punch mark CS, an engraving on the inside of the back cover H. Th. Houwenlinge 25 Febr. 85, slide for repeating mechanism. White enamel dial with radial Roman hours and outer minute track, subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and blued steel hands. In excellent condition.
