A fine, small French 14-carat gold open faced anchor chronometer, circa 1890.
Rhodium-plated bridge movement, Cal. LeCoultre, bolt-on minute wheel chart, polished screws, swan neck adjustment, blued Breguet hairspring, large gold screwed compensation balance. Silver-plated dial with black numerals, outer minutes track, subsidiary dial for the seconds, and gold Breguet hands. Simple, polished case without hinges.

Pierre Giteau completed his apprenticeship as a watchmaker with Abraham-Louis Breguet and worked as a watchmaker in Paris. He received the title ‘Watchmaker of the King’ (Horloger Breveté du Roi). Giteau know’s pocket watches and clocks, and he signed most of his watches with ‘Giteau, Elève de Breguet’.
