Gold open faced keyless lever watch
–
A fine French 18 carat gold open faced pocket watch made by Boucheron, circa 1890. It has a jewelled, mechanical, manual winding movement with a lever escapement, signed Boucheron Palais Royal. The white enamel dial, signed Boucheron, shows black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with blue Arabic five minute numerals from 5 to 60, and gold hands set with rose cut diamonds. The timepiece is housed in a round 18 carat gold open faced case with a ropework styled bezel, a fluted winding crown, an ornate suspension bow, and a solid reverse back cover intricately chased in relief with a multi toned scene of musical instruments in three colours of gold, framed by detailed floral foliage and ribbon motifs.
