An extraordinary, large verge pocket watch with a very rare calibre, circa 1800.
Firegilt, flat, full plate spindle movement, keywind, large regulating scale, three-arm brass balance, engraved and florally pierced balance bridge. Enamel dial with Arabic Breguet numerals, outer minutes track with Arabic fifteen minutes numerals, and unusual and rare blue Breguet-type steel hands. Extremely uncommon, tiered smooth silver case with 18K red gold bezels, fluted band, 16-point edge, and hallmarked. Rare and unusual construction. Movement signed.

Jean Louis Théodore Keisser, French watchmaker
Jean Louis Théodore Keisser was born on September 11, 1774, in Grenoble, Isère, Rhône-Alpes, France and baptized in Saint-Louis church on the same day. He was the son of metal gilder Jean Georges Keidder (1748-1800) and Magdeleine Ravat Serrin (1750-1800) . Jean Louis Théodore was the brother of Georges Antoine Keisser.

Keisser married Anne Marie Peyrin on February 6, 1797, in Grenoble. From this marriage, four possible five children were born; the only son Antoine Victor became an entrepreneur and moved to Algeria, where he died.

Possibly he signed his watches Keisser à Grenoble.

Jean Louis Théodore Keisser died on March 15, 1834 in Grenoble, aged 73.
