Gold half hunting cased lever pocket watch

A fine English 18 carat gold half hunting cased minute repeating pocket watch made by Joseph Penlington in Liverpool, circa 1893. The frosted gilt brass jewelled movement with an English lever escapement, a balance cock with diamond endstone and finely engraved acanthus leaves, free sprung hairspring and bimetallic split compensation balance. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blue steel double spade hands. The plain, polished case with a blue enamel chapter to the front and sliding repeat governor located in the band at 6 o’clock, punched with maker’s mark GHH for George Henry Harwood, 207 St. John Street. Dial and movement signed Jos.h Penlington Liverpool.
