Gold open faced with scene of young couple

A fine Swiss 18k gold painted-on enamel and pearl-set pocket watch, circa 1780. A Louis XVI case, pearl-set bezel, the back set with a finely painted enamel oval scene of a young couple in a landscape, the lady seated and the gentleman holding a laurel wreath above her head, turquoise border, pearl-set outer border to match the bezel. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and large Arabic five-minute numerals and gold beetle and poker hands. A matte gilt, full plate movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance with flat spring, pierced and engraved continental cock, index regulator with large engraved scale on the backplate.
