Gold repoussé verge pocket watch
–
A decorative pair cased verge pocket watch with open work Repoussé decoration, circa 1782. The inner- and outer case is 22 carat gold.
White enamel dial, full plate movement, chain/fusee, three-arm steel balance, pierced and engraved bridge cock and footplate, silver regulator disk, square pillars.
This exquisitely finished pocket watch has a striking finely decorated outer case. The back shows a magnificent ornament: a lavishly chased area with an openwork scene, so that the figures stand out dramatically against the background and appear almost three dimensional.
